LaWANDA GREEN (Assistant Managing Director/Assistant Producer of Black Women Speak) is thrilled for the opportunity to be the Assistant Producer for Horizon Theatre Company’s New Georgia Woman Project: Black Women Speak. She moved to Atlanta from Orlando, Florida where she received her BFA in theatre from the University of Central Florida. Since graduating she has spent her time as an arts administrator at People’s Theatre, The Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community (producer of the Annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival), and for the last 8 years here at Horizon. When LaWanda moved to Atlanta, she gigged as a house managed at Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company, Southwest Arts Center, Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center and at Horizon while working at Premier Exhibitions (Bodies: The Exhibition, Dialogue in the Dark, Titanic: The Exhibition) in a variety of positions for over 5 years. After which, LaWanda was promoted to Horizon’s box office manager where she has grown over the years, now serving as assistant managing director and assistant producer for Black Women Speak. Her directing credits include the premiere of Pinder’s Kids which depicted the fight of Father Nelson Pinder and local teenagers to desegregate lunch counters in Orlando (a collaboration between People’s Theatre and the Orange County Regional History Center) and The Meeting (Montgomery, AL).
