INTERNS FOR YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL
Horizon Theatre Company is seeking interns to assist with the upcoming 2024 New South Young Playwrights Festival! This year, the festival runs from Sunday, June 2 to Saturday, June 8. Please note that FIRST PRIORITY is given to applicants who are available for the entire week (starting on Sunday, June 2).If you have an interest in playwriting, directing, producing, or stage management, this is the internship for you!
Interns will be able to audit some of the playwriting sessions and will be exposed to many professionals in the field. Interns should have experience in stage management and/or scheduling, as well as in interest in furthering a career in the theatre. They will be expected to assist with the general flow of the festival, including (but not limited to) making runs to pick up meals as well as transporting festival participants to and from their housing. They will also set up for/clean up after meals, take notes during seminars, run video cameras, assist with photography and social media, and manage technology for Zoom events with guests from out of town. Applicants who are willing to use their personal car for Festival business get top priority.
Interns will be paid a $300 stipend for the week and will have the opportunity to interact with the professional actors, directors, and playwrights that participate in the festival when not busy with their other tasks, as well as sit in on playwriting workshops led by MFA candidates and established playwrights. It’s a wonderful chance for professional theatre development!
BOX OFFICE AND HOUSE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATES (Part-Time)
Horizon Theatre Company is hiring part-time Box Office and House Management Associates – seeking outgoing, detail-oriented people with daytime, evening and/or weekend availability, primarily Tuesday-Sunday. Box Office and House Management Associates are expected to work between 1 to 4 shifts per week. Performance shifts are a priority, but afternoon shifts are also available for those with daytime flexibility. Performances are Wed through Fri at 8pm, Sat at 3pm and 8pm, and Sun at 5pm. Box Office and House Management associates arrive at least 2 hours prior to performances. Afternoon shifts are 12-5:00pm Tues through Sat as needed. Currently seeking staff to begin training immediately for the 2023 season of fresh, contemporary plays starting in early March 2023. Starting pay is $12-$15 per hour, depending on experience. Tessitura experience is a big plus. Complimentary tickets provided to all Horizon staff. Horizon Theatre Company requires all staff to be vaccinated, and to be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Starting hourly pay for students/early career carpenters is $12-$15/hr, based on experience; rate increases with experience in the company. STAFF MASTER ELECTRICIAN
Horizon Theatre Company seeks a part-time staff Master Electrician to ensure the timely and accurate realization of all lighting elements for Horizon’s 5-play main season and other productions/projects as needed. Master Electrician is responsible for implementing the lighting design for each production and maintaining the integrity of the lighting design throughout the performance period and managing and maintaining performance-related electrics systems and equipment. Compensation hourly or by contract, depending on experience and availability. Hours will average 50-80 for each production plus approximately 10 hours per month for maintenance and additional hours for special upgrade/repair projects.

ASSISTANT PRODUCER
Horizon Theatre Company seeks a full-time Assistant Producer with an interest in a career in theatrical producing. This position will assist in producing all Horizon plays, education programs, play development projects and community engagement initiatives. Main areas of emphasis will be administrative support for Horizon productions, coordinating casting and literary submissions, and managing education and community engagement. Required: undergraduate degree, plus minimum 2 years post-college professional theatre experience. Salary $30,000 annually with benefits. Position mainly day hours but flexibility with evenings and weekends required.
Overview of Duties: Assist Co-Artistic/Producing Director in any areas needed for mainstage and family series seasons. by managing casting and literary work for main stage and family seasons; support Community Engagement initiatives in support of productions; produce family series show, Madeline’s Christmas; and assist as needed in development of other education programming.
