Students, high school through college, are invited to submit completed one act plays for consideration in Horizon Theatre Company’s New South Young Playwrights Festival Contest. 20 playwrights are selected to participate in the New South Young Playwrights Festival at Horizon Theatre in the trendy Little Five Points area of Atlanta. This week long festival is free and will include playwriting workshops, seminars, and rehearsals with professional theatre actors, directors, and playwrights.
Every year, our New South Young Playwrights Festival (NSYPF) culminates in a show-stopping short play festival! 2020 was our first time doing it completely online! These winning plays were written by college-age playwrights all across the country and performed by professional actors.
The 22nd Annual NSYP Short Play Festival is a public reading and virtual showcase of the writers’ short plays that were created over their intensive week. there are 23 writers and plays.
We are hopeful that this year the festival will take place IN-PERSON, but please check back for updates regarding this matter.
