Molly Smith Metzler is a Brooklyn-based playwright and recent graduate of The Juilliard School. Her “comedy of bad manners” Elemeno Pea premiered at the Humana Festival of New American Plays in 2011. Her other plays—including Training Wisteria, Carve, and Close Up Space, —have been presented by Manhattan Theatre Club, Playwrights’ Horizons, The O’Neill Theater Center, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Chautauqua Theatre Company, Summer Play Festival (SPF), Cherry Lane Mentor Project, The Lark, The Tristan Bates Theatre (London), The Kennedy Center and Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, among others. Molly is a member of EST and the Ars Nova 2010 Play Group. Her honors include two Lecomte du Nouy Prizes (Lincoln Center), three KCACTF Awards (The Kennedy Center National Student Playwrighting Award, The Mark Twain Comedy Award, The David Mark Cohen Award—ATHE) and guest residencies at Sundance Theater Lab, Montana Rep, Dayton Futurefest, New River Dramatists, and Williamstown Theatre Festival. She holds an MFA from the Tisch School at NYU and a MA from Boston University.
