Kira Rockwell

KIRA ROCKWELL (Holy Chicken Sandwich playwright) (she/her) is an Atlanta-based playwright and educator, originally from the heart of Texas. Selected plays include OH TO BE PURE AGAIN (world premiere: Actor’s Express); THE PENELOPES (development: Theatrical Outfit); WICKED BITTER BEAST(S) (development: Alabama Shakespeare Festival); HOLY CHICKEN SANDWICH (world premiere: Horizon Theatre). Her work has also been developed with The Kennedy Center, NNPN, Great Plains Theatre Commons, The Last Frontier Theatre Conference, and more. Writing awards include the Judith Royer Excellence in Playwriting Award, Second Place Recipient of the Paula Vogel Playwriting Award, Fellowship with the Mass Cultural Council, Gene Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award, Runner-Up for the Princess Grace Award, among others. Commissions include Ensemble Studio Theatre, Actor’s Express, and Theatrical Outfit. She holds an MFA in Playwriting from Boston University.
