Heidi McKerley

HEIDI McKERLEY (Director, Natasha & Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812) is a Horizon Artistic Associate where she has directed 35 projects over 25 years, including the musicals OnceCowgirls and many more. She has been fortunate to work with most professional theatres in Atlanta during her thirty-four years of living here; including the Alliance, Horizon, City Springs, the Jennie T. Anderson Concert Series, Georgia Shakespeare, Atlanta Shakespeare, Aurora,Theatrical Outfit, Georgia Ensemble, Actor’s Express, Atlanta Lyric, Theatre Emory, Dad’s Garage, Fabrefaction, Jewish Theatre of the South, Theatre in the Square, Push Push Theatre, and has been a guest artist for the Gainesville Theatre Alliance, Berry College, Kennesaw State University, the Lagrange Lyric, and the University of Georgia. Heidi has been nominated for fourteen Suzi Bass Awards and won for Best Director of a Musical in 2011 for Avenue Q. She was just nominated for Best Director of a Play for The Play That Goes Wrong at the Aurora Theatre and that show along with the Horizon’s Designing Women 2020 which she also directed last season, have been nominated for thirteen awards between them. Regionally, Heidi has worked for the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia and the Oasis Theatre and the Hippodrome State Theatre in Florida. Heidi is a member of the National Storytelling Network, the Alliance for Theatre in Education, Georgia Thespians, the Georgia Theatre Conference, and the Educational Theatre Association of America.
