CURRENTLY CASTING

Horizon is now seeking non-Equity adult actors for paid roles in the first production of our season, THE GAME. This is the newest comedy from Bekah Brunstetter (Horizon’s The Cake, NBC’s This Is Us, and Broadway’s The Notebook). All races/ethnicities are strongly encouraged to submit!

SYNOPSIS

Alyssa and Homer are in a marriage that’s hit a glitch. And it’s all due to the massively engrossing online game that’s wreaking havoc on the lives of couples everywhere. When she puts together a support group for other women in a similar situation, the game enters a new level where all’s fair in love and war. This hilarious and heartfelt comedy brings technology and community together in the most unexpected ways.

AUDITION DATES: Auditions will be held May 8, 2024 from 1:00-9:00pm, callbacks TBD. Video auditions are accepted from non-AEA actors.

PERFORMANCES: Wednesday-Saturday @ 8:00pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm, and Sundays at 5:00pm. Soft Opening: June 21, Opening Night: June 28, Closing Performance: July 28.

ROLES AVAILABLE:
ALYSSA: 30-40, any race/ethnicity. Architect who loves work, exercise, and organizing drawers. Frustrated that her husband, Homer, spends all of his time playing “The Game” but sincerely loves him and wants her marriage back.

HOMER: 39, any race/ethnicity. Spends his time 24/7 playing “The Game,” a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG). Loves his wife but has been struggling since losing his job.

CLEO: 20s, any race/ethnicity. Visibly 4 or 5 months pregnant, wide-eyed and young. Still in the “honeymoon” phase of her marriage but loves the female companionship.

MYRA: 70s, any race/ethnicity. She doesn’t quite seem to understand exactly where she is, but she’s up for anything. Sometimes she bestows the wisdom of her age and other times she has no idea what the women are talking about.

RHONDA: late 40s, any race/ethnicity. Wears ridiculous clothes that you might find deep in a clearance rack and is obsessed with Poshmark. She looks like she’s trying to be 8 different women at once.

JEN: 30s, any race/ethnicity. Quiet, terrifyingly smart, and a bit awkward. Hides behind her camera and snaps a picture of someone every now and then.

Casting — General Information

  • Horizon accepts headshots, resumes and video links from actors who are located in Atlanta or who have Atlanta housing year round.
  • We appreciate link(s) to any video of your stage work you can provide – scenes or monologues.  We prefer 3/4 or full body shot video so that we can see you in a theatrical context rather than a film context.  You can also include a link to your reel, but any theatre video is better.  Also include a brief letter of interest that tells us something about yourself and what brings you to Atlanta.
  • We hold individual auditions for each show in our season which are publicized through AEA and Broadway World.
  • If you would like to be considered for a particular show, you may send your headshot, resume, and letter of interest, and we will do our best to call you in for that show.  But we have a small staff, so if you see a posting about auditions and you have not heard from us, submit your information as indicated on the posting.
  • Please note that Horizon Theatre Company does not offer local housing and therefore rarely uses out-of-town actors.
  • Horizon is a professional theatre company that hires both Equity and non-Equity performers on an SPT6 contract.
