Nicole Johnson (Movement Collaborator) is an Atlanta native and a founding artist of Fly on a Wall. As a young artist Nicole trained at The Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Education, and became a company member with Atlanta Ballet in 2006. In 2009 she began to explore more contemporary work with dance maker Lauri Stallings and this led to the formation of gloATL, a platform for contemporary movement language and physical gesture. While with glo, from 2009-2013 she was a part of numerous experiences created for Atlanta and beyond. Nicole has had the opportunity to work intimately with a number of artists across media and this has given her the understanding that all work is truly collaborative at heart; a belief that led to the creation of Fly on a Wall with her colleagues Nathan Griswold and Sean Nguyen-Hilton. Nicole graduated in 2008 from Georgia State University with a degree in History and Sociology. She was one of Art’s ATL’s 30 artists under 30 to watch, and was proud to be a 2016 Walthall fellow. She would like to thank her family and friends for their endless support, and belief of a life in the arts.
