Senior Citizens Ensemble
This ensemble of senior adults develops and presents original plays by and about senior citizens. Ranging in age from 58 - 80, with both theatre veterans and newcomers, the Senior Ensemble uses the universal medium of theatre to build bridges across the ages. Ask about a free or low cost performance for your group or organization.
Young Playwrights Program:
In-School Residencies
Support the playwrights of the future! This unique program offers 12-week in-school writing residencies in which students of all ages are taught the fundamentals of playwriting. Through this professionally-led program taught by our teaching artists, Horizon is providing these young artists with skills they need today in order to become the Tony Kushners of tomorrow.
Students, middle school through college, are invited to submit completed one-act plays for consideration in the Horizon Theatre Company’s New South Young Playwrights Festival Contest. The contest has three divisions: Middle School; High School; and College. Twenty playwrights will be selected to participate in the New South Young Playwrights Festival at the Horizon Theatre Company in the trendy Little Five Points area of Atlanta. This weeklong festival will include playwriting workshops, seminars, and rehearsals with professional theatre actors, directors, and playwrights.
